Harrison Ford will be de-aged to portray Indiana Jones battling Nazis in 1944 for the opening sequence of the fifth film in the franchise, Empire reported.
This is the first time I’ve seen [de-aging technology] where I believe it, Ford told the magazine. “It’s a little spooky. I don’t think I even want to know how it works, but it works.
Ford, now 80, was 38 when “Raiders of the Lost Ark” was released in 1981. In the upcoming films opening, Ford will appear as he did then.
Along with technology, filmmakers used archival footage and an exact replica of the jacket Ford wore in the original film to transport the actor back in time.
My hope is that, although it will be talked about in terms of technology, you just watch it and go, ‘Oh my God, they just found footage,’ producer Kathleen Kennedy told the magazine.
